This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use the BeamIt platform at beamit.health, including our website, mobile applications, and SMS messaging services (collectively, the "Service").

We collect information necessary to provide our medical image sharing services:

• Account Information: Name, email address, phone number, and authentication credentials
• Medical Images: DICOM files, photographs, videos, and associated medical imaging data that you choose to upload
• Phone Numbers: Mobile phone numbers provided by senders for the purpose of sharing medical images via SMS, and recipient phone numbers entered during the sharing process
• SMS & Communication Data: Records of transactional SMS messages sent through our platform, including verification codes and image sharing notifications
• Usage Data: Information about how you interact with our platform to improve our services
• Device Information: Browser type, operating system, and IP address for security purposes

How We Use Your Information

Your information is used solely to:

• Provide and maintain our medical image sharing services
• Authenticate your identity and secure your account
• Enable you to share medical images with healthcare providers and recipients of your choosing
• Send transactional SMS messages including image sharing notifications, one-time verification codes, and account security alerts
• Verify recipient identity via one-time SMS codes before granting access to shared medical images
• Send you important notifications about your account and shared images

SMS Messaging Program

BeamIt uses SMS text messaging to deliver transactional notifications related to medical image sharing and account verification. This section describes our SMS practices in detail.

Types of SMS Messages

BeamIt sends the following types of transactional SMS messages:

• Image Sharing Notifications: When a user shares medical imaging with you, you will receive an SMS containing a secure link to view the shared content
• Verification Codes: One-time codes sent via SMS to verify your identity before accessing shared medical images or during account authentication
• Account Security Alerts: Notifications about account access and security-related events

Consent & Opt-In

End users provide consent to receive SMS messages during the sharing process on BeamIt. When a sender enters a recipient's phone number to share medical imaging, the recipient receives a notification SMS informing them that imaging has been shared. Before accessing the shared content, recipients must verify their identity via a one-time code sent by SMS. The initial SMS states that by proceeding, the recipient agrees to receive transactional SMS messages from BeamIt related to medical image access and account verification.

Message Frequency

Message frequency varies based on sharing activity. Messages are sent only in connection with medical imaging sharing events and identity verification. BeamIt does not send marketing messages, promotional content, or recurring automated campaigns.

Message & Data Rates

Standard message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan. BeamIt does not charge for SMS messages, but your carrier may.

Opt-Out (STOP)

You may opt out of receiving SMS messages from BeamIt at any time by replying STOP to any message. After opting out, you will receive a confirmation message and no further SMS messages will be sent. Please note that opting out of SMS may affect your ability to receive shared medical images and verification codes via text.

Phone Number Privacy

Phone numbers collected for SMS messaging are used exclusively for delivering transactional messages related to medical image sharing and identity verification. We do not sell, rent, share, or use phone numbers for marketing purposes. Phone numbers are not shared with third parties except our SMS delivery provider (Twilio), which is bound by strict data processing agreements and HIPAA-compliant practices.

HIPAA Compliance

BeamIt is designed with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) compliance in mind. We implement appropriate administrative, physical, and technical safeguards to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information (PHI).

As a patient-directed platform, BeamIt empowers you to exercise your rights under HIPAA to access and share your own medical records. When you share images through BeamIt, you are exercising your right to direct the disclosure of your health information.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or phone numbers. We do not use your information for marketing purposes. Your medical images are only shared with recipients you explicitly authorize. We may share limited information with:

• Twilio: Our SMS delivery provider, used solely for sending transactional messages (sharing notifications and verification codes). Twilio processes phone numbers under strict data processing agreements.
• Google Cloud Platform: Our cloud infrastructure provider, for hosting and data storage under enterprise security agreements.
• Healthcare providers you have explicitly authorized to receive your images
• Legal authorities when required by law or to protect rights and safety

Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of your personal data
• Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information
• Deletion: Request deletion of your data, subject to legal retention requirements
• Portability: Receive your data in a standard, machine-readable format
• Withdraw Consent: Revoke sharing permissions at any time
• Opt-Out of SMS: Reply STOP to any BeamIt SMS message to stop receiving texts
• Opt-Out of Communications: Unsubscribe from non-essential communications

Data Retention

We retain your medical images and account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. SMS message logs are retained for compliance and audit purposes. You may request deletion of your data at any time. Some information may be retained as required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as audit trails and legal compliance.

Children's Privacy

BeamIt is not intended for use by individuals under 18 years of age without parental or guardian consent. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request deletion, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
